NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine has said he continues to view Pluto as a planet. The International Astronomical Union stripped Pluto of its planetary status in 2006 because it’s ’smaller than our moon, not of planetary size’. Efforts to restore Pluto’s planetary status have been ongoing since.
He remembers it fondly when we weren't looking for a planet 9th.
Hold onto your old knowledge no matter what, and ignore the practicalities of trying to provide unique names for all the astronomical bodies out there... Pluto is not a planet, and for a good reason.
