Death toll soars to 2,000 in Congo in year-long Ebola outbreak

The death toll from Democratic Republic of Congo’s year-long Ebola outbreak has climbed above 2,000. The death in neighboring Uganda of a girl who tested positive for the virus after entering the country from Congo underscores the challenges faced in containing the disease. The last time the Ebola crisis was this serious was during the 2013 to 2016 outbreak in West Africa.
