Two robots equipped with a CCTV camera for a head are expected to debut as pole dancers at a nightclub in Nantes, France, next week. UK artist Giles Walker, the brainchild behind the rots, in a reference to the CCTV heads, said the robots aimed to ’play with the notion of voyeurism’. The club owner called the move a ’homage in a way to robotics’, confirming that human dancers will not be replaced.

Art is no longer a conduit with our emotions, it is politicised and has less to do with romance and the human condition than ever before. When the capacity to create art that touches our souls is diminished so profoundly, can we finally admit that a dark sickness is creeping in our midst?
