Dozens arrested in xenophobic attacks in South Africa

Dozens have been arrested in Johannesburg, South Africa, after rioters looted shops and torched buildings and vehicles. Many of the targeted shops are believed to be owned by foreign nationals. The country has seen a spate of xenophobic attacks in recent months. The South African police minister, however, said ’criminality rather than xenophobia’ was to blame for the ’senseless violence’.
