Hong Kong protesters switch to Bluetooth based app for messaging

Protesters in Hong Kong have switched to using a new app to communicate, one that does not use the internet. Bridgefy is based on Bluetooth and allows users to communicate with each other without an internet connection. Currently, texts, email and messaging app WeChat are monitored by the Chinese state. Reports suggest Bridgefy downloads are up 4,000 per cent in the past two months.
