Confirmation of U.S.-China trade talks buoys shares

Hong Kong stocks pared gains Thursday after seeing a surge on Wednesday following reports surrounding the withdrawal of an extradition bill. Market sentiment also got a bolster on the back of news about another round of negotiations. China’s Commerce Ministry issued a statement Thursday that it had agreed to hold another round of trade negotiations with the US in Washington, D.C..
