BanFacialRecognition, was organized by the digital rights group Fight for the Future gathered a coalition of more than 15 million members to push for a federal ban on law enforcement’s use of facial recognition technology. The U.K. started doing stuff like this. They have cameras everywhere already. We can't let the government, or anyone else, have the ability to track our movements by default. It's a bad road to go down. I'm willing to live with a certain amount of crime, to ensure we all have more freedom. "But Otis, what about our cell phones?" You can turn off the location services, or better yet, turn the thing off.

Difference is in what the facial recognition tech is going to be used for; law enforcement is pretty straightforward but tech companies who knows? And that supposed support for law enforcement will likely change if it ever became illegal to hide/cover one's face while in public.
