Fighter jet accidentally fires rocket near Tucson

Air Force officials are investigating after an A-10C Thunderbolt II fighter jet on a training mission accidentally fired a rocket near Tucson. The rocket landed Thursday morning in a remote desert wash near Mount Graham. No injuries, damage or fires were reported.

The A-10 is not a fighter. US fighter aircraft are almost universally designated as an "F-XXX" (the x's being numbers, though we're only using 2 right now), with the "F" standing for fighter.
