more like "Gamestops terrible returns policy and lack of abiliry to please customers, may cause store closings" they did this ti themselves, by becoming the Largest market share of Vigeo Games, also exoected to hold onto that. like buying everyone else out didnt make everyone made snd find alternste options. hahaha

I would frequent a chain that had a decent return policy, did game rentals, gave you more than pennies for used games, and also did retro games like Nintendo, Sega Genesis, etc.

If only that existed🥺

I have, like, 5 stores within walking range that do that. Also, who rents games?
James Villalobos 1 weeks
@Dunk no reason not to. Smash Brothers would be a great game for renting.

All of these niche brick-and-mortar buildings are going to die; all hail Amazon, king of retail and all things obscure.
Talon One 1 weeks
More like all hail Steam and the PlayStation Store. Because game downloads is why these stores die.

Alot of people celebrating this, but keep in mind this is not a great thing. I would attribute their failure to digital sales. Keep in mind when you buy a digital copy you are essentially renting the right to play it. If that game becomes unavailable for any reason you are fucked. Physical copies always are better than digital. What happens when your internet goes out and it cant verify your purchase or some bullshit. You lay for internet, and then pay for the priviledge of playing your game you already bought on that internet. Games creation is becoming over simplified and bloated. Instead of creating works of art that you can play for years, they give you an hour long play for $60 you will buy again when they change a couple character models and release it again under a different title name in 6 months.

physical copies are mostly useless now. bought watch dogs, had to download like 20gb. bought DOOM, had to download 60gb. bought Need For Speed, had to download...I don't remember. too many games need to be downloaded even with the disk.

Bought me an SD2SNES cartridge 2yrs ago($250 give or take), got it in the mail and downloaded a Complete ROMS folder off the internet. Now I've got endless hours of entertainment under the first EMP detonation 🍻
ConcealCarryProtect 1 weeks
Yeah they made physical copies useless, because they wanted everyone to go digital. They still have the database for the downloading of the game, so the disk is just an access that allows the download. They fucked that up too. You are right.

A microcosm for the gaming industry. You’ll take $0.80 for that brand new game you want to return and you’ll like it! Have a side of micro transactions and launch day disasters while you’re at it!

I had this conversation with a friend of mine the other day. There really is no need for stores like this anymore. Hell, you can buy the games directly through the console and not have to worry about losing the physical disk. I guess the downside is that you can no longer resell your games for money towards another game.

I'll buy a store for 5 dollars
