California close to landmark law on gig economy workers rights

California is a step closer to regulating workers under the gig economy. The law who is now back for final approval in the state Assembly could trigger tax, workers right and compensation claims against those employers that use independent contractors arrangements for long term contractual relationships with workers, such as Uber and Lyft drivers.

I am betting this is going to be challenged very fast - seems overly broad, maybe it could affect construction and other labor workers?
