DNA leads to identity of suspect in 1972 murder of California girl

DNA testing and genetic genealogy has helped police in Southern California crack a 47-year-old cold case and identify the man who raped and murdered an 11-year-old girl. The body of Terri Lynn Hollis was found on a cliff in Oxnard on Nov. 24, 1972. Hollis’ killer was identified as Jake Edward Brown, dead in 2003, after authorities exhumed his body and confirmed a DNA match.
