UK officials call for loot boxes to be regulated like gambling

The UK Govt. has released a report which condemns a ’lack of honesty and transparency’ from gaming industry representatives about the potential harms of game mechanics like loot boxes. Ministers have called for a regulation on in-game spending and a complete ban on the so-called loot boxes for children. The MPs also called for the establishing of an effective age-verification tools.

I really don't see what the problem is. People use the "child gambling" issue but why not hold parents accountable for what they allow their children to play?

You can't exchange your virtual outfits from a loot box with anything resembling real money. It's not the same.
