Asylum changes to help reduce backlog of immigration cases, says Trump official

The acting head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Ken Cuccinelli said on Friday that the decision to essentially end the provision of asylum at the US-Mexico border for migrants was essential for the administration. This, he said, would go a long way in reducing the backlog of immigration cases that needed to be looked into.

Not sure what the point of these articles are other than to loudly wonder at the possibility that maybe there is a chance that the SCOTUS ruling might actually be a good thing in helping drive down the ridiculous backlog of asylum cases. Like, they are trying to say that Trump had a valid point in doing this, but they do not want him to get even a shadow of a shred of a benefit.
