Volcano on Jupiter’s moon expected to erupt this month

Jupiter’s innermost moon Io’s 126-mile-wide volcano Loki is expected to erupt this month. The volcano is the biggest and most powerful among others found on the moon and hence the eruption might be detectable from Earth via telescopes.

Io's volcanism is most likely due to the massive tidal stress from Jupiter. Pretty cool that it's so periodic that we can predict it from so many AUs away.
