UK Supreme Court rules suspension of Parliament is unlawful

The UK Supreme Court has ruled that British PM Boris Johnson’s five-week suspension of Parliament was unlawful. Judges unanimously upheld an earlier decision by Scotland’s highest civil court, which ruled that Johnson acted illegally. The ruling is a massive defeat for Johnson. The court president said Johnson’s advice to the Queen ’was unlawful’ and the prorogation was ’void and of no effect’.
