Canberra becomes first Australian city to legalize recreational marijuana

Australian lawmakers have voted to legalize marijuana in the country’s capital city Canberra. Laws passed on Wednesday will permit the possession, use and cultivation of small amounts of cannabis. Under the new legislation, adults will be allowed to possess of up to 50 grams of marijuana, with every household permitted to cultivate up to four cannabis plants. This is effective January 31, 2020.

Weed has been decriminalized in other states for decades. All they have changed is going from 2 plants per household to 4.
