Chinese official says Hong Kong can handle its protests

Hong Kong weekend protests continue and leader Carrie Lam is hosting community consultations to curb them. A senior Chinese official in Hong Kong expressed confidence in local authorities to restore calm to the protest-wracked city. The protests are expected to mar celebrations next week of 70 years of Communist Party rule in China.
