Jacques Chirac was ’bribed’ by Saddam Hussein, claims former MI6 head

A new report has revealed that former French president Jacques Chirac, who died last week, was a staunch opponent of the US-led war in Iraq because he was secretly on Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s payroll. Sir Richard Dearlove, head of Britain’s MI6 spy agency at the time of the war, claimed Chirac was bribed millions to publicly oppose the war.

Understand the history of Iraq and Iran. US, France, and Britain have been involved in their politics and attempting to build oil infrastructure and obtain contracts since the 40s -50s. For France to oppose the Iraq war at the time is significant. I don't believe he was bribed, and it's pretty disgusting to bring this up what 2 days after the president's death. It could be possible he was bribed but I'll wait for more than just a british spy's word.
