CVS pulls Zantac over link to cancer-causing compound

CVS will stop selling the heartburn drug Zantac after traces of a known carcinogen were found in some of the products by the US FDA. CVS said Sunday it has suspended sales of Zantac, as well as its own generic ranitidine products, as the FDA continues its review. Small amounts of the carcinogen N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) were found in the ranitidine products.

You shouldn't take ranitidine or PPIs for heartburn, only for gastric ulcers. Increasing stomach acid levels with sour and bitter foods and consuming vinegar and lemon/lime are much more effective (though counter-intuitive) ways of closing the gastro-esophageal sphincter and preventing acid from being regurgitated. PPIs are already known to increase the risk of stomach cancer, and the reduction of stomach acid itself hinders both digestion and the primary immune mechanism that acidity provides. Just avoid them unless you absolutely need them (such as for the treatment or prevention of ulcers). These drugs are massively over-prescribed and they cause a vicious cycle when used for heartburn/GERD, much to the indifference of the medical community.

Don't over stuff your face with crap food and you won't need pills. AND lessen your risk of cancer, diabetes and heart attacks.

Headline should say "Chinese manufacturers allow cancer-causing agent into Zantac and other antacids". When you read the story, it's not an issue with the formula, it's an issue with the processing which has been transferred offshore.

I'd be interested to hear if the generics have the same issue

Aloha vera juice with pulp. Buy the concentrate 3L bottles. Mix with water and honey. You need the honey because it is not sweetened at all. Amazing stuff; works.
