Ban on National Day march upheld after violence in Hong Kong

Appeals for a major pro-democracy march have been rejected by Hong Kong authorities. The march was to be held on China’s National Day. The appeal was rejected after two continuous days of violent clashes between the protesters. Police feared that the march could cause further violence and could end in embarrassment for Beijing.
