Australia walks back India ban after backlash

Australia has walked back a recent move to ban travelers from India from entering Australia until May 15, threatening rule-breakers with prison time. Fending off accusations of racism and having blood on his hands, Morrison said Tuesday that it was ’highly unlikely’ that Australians who skirted a ban would be jailed. About 9,000 Australians are believed to be in India.

Australia banned it citizens to return from India because it is critical the integrity of the Australian public health and quarantine systems is protected and the number of COVID-19 cases in quarantine facilities is reduced to a manageable level. So was Australian in India considered Australian or not Australian? If the India throw Australian with covid out of it country to protect it citizens, where can these Australian in India go?
