Apple removes Hong Kong protest location app

Apple has removed a crowd-sourced app, HKmap Live, that tracks the location of protesters and police activity in Hong Kong. Apple said the app ’facilitates, enables, or encourages an activity that is not legal’. It is not clear if the decision to ban it was in response to a request from the Chinese authorities. Apple added the app ’allowed users to evade law enforcement’.
