Atlantic City mayor pleads guilty to wire fraud

Atlantic City’s Mayor Frank Gilliam resigned late on Thursday after pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud. Gilliam faces a 20-year prison sentence for stealing about $87,000 from a youth basketball club. His letter came in the wake of a call from New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy for Gilliam to resign. City council president Marty Small would be sworn into office on Friday.

Stealing from kids. Am I shocked? Not really shocking anymore. Just more fuel for depression and wondering how low the bar is set for politicians today.

Not surprised. All major cities have issues with corruption in their leadership. This guy stole from a kids fund that he helped set up, so he is getting condemned for it.
