Sheriff: No charges for man who mistakenly killed son-in-law

61 year old Florida man, Richard Dennis, shot and killed his son-in-law Christopher Bergan, 37, outside his house in Pensacola on Tuesday night in what police described as a ’horrible accident’. He shot after the victim jumped out of the bushes to surprise him for his birthday. Dennis will not face charges for the incident, Santa Rosa County Sheriff announced at a Thursday news conference.

I once worked for an armed money transportation service. One of the couriers went into a store once around October and walked beside the counter. Apparently they had a display that was a scary monster that popped out when soneine walked by and made a screaming sound. He drew his firearm out of surprise. Luckily never shot it. The employees laughed and then yelled when he drew the gun. It was a great day. We teased him about that forever. Always reminded him "Its october. Watch out for ghouls".

"I never was a very good practical joker" Seriously though, how is this ruling consistent with the former Dallas cop?!

Dennis meant it when he said "I hate surprises".
