Three scientists given Nobel Prize for cell research

The Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to scientists William G. Kaelin, Jr, Peter J. Ratcliffe and Gregg L. Semenza for their discoveries of ’how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability’. The discoveries have been indicated to have paved the way for promising new strategies to fight anemia, cancer and many other diseases. The Peace Prize will be announced on Friday.
