Trump says ’too costly’ to back Kurdish forces in Syria

US President Trump on Monday defended the decision to withdraw US troops from northern Syria, saying it was too costly to keep supporting the allied Kurdish-led forces in the region. ’The Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so’, Trump tweeted, adding that the situation was for ’Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds’ to take care of.

I am waiting for all the orange man bad types to be upset, say war is good and that people don't just have a right to cross borders, or that nations are a good thing and should have sovereignty etc.

I'm against US intervention in the region, but also against intervening and then once some of those people choose to side with us, walking away leaving them holding the bag. We should use diplomatic pressure on Turkey to stay back away from the Kurds.

Kurds are the only decent ones in the region...

We should be ending our involvement in Yemen and Afghanistan. This situation is more complex because, as others have noted, we are working with Kurds and now basically abandoning them.

So the Kurds are mercenaries? If we have to pay them to fight with us, then leave them to their own defense.

Also too little public support. I don't want our fine servicemen in combat anymore than necessary.

nah, not costly, just withdrawing American forces because Erdogan is pushing the Turkish army to northern Syria to fight kurds, and Turkey is part of the EU. So yeah, between "allies" and "allies", papa Trump rather no bother with diplomacy between US and Turkey/EU. Sorry kurds, but you are valuable to some extent.
