NBA stands to lose billions as China lashes out over tweet

As the dispute following a tweet grows in China, NBA faces a dilemma between standing for its values or risking a market with 600 million fans and billions of dollars from lucrative TV and merchandising contracts. It issued an immediate apology following a tweet from Daryl Morey, GM Houston Rockets, and retaliation from China. NBA has disassociated itself from Morey’s views.

Bunch of greedy cowards who are more concerned about money than free speech or other Western rights.

There is a big difference between "losing" billions, and losing the potential to earn them.

Sounds like Trump needs to increase the tariffs... Could you imagine punishing countries for anti-democratic behavior? You know, living up to our f***ing values...

Now all the Chinese need to do is test all their military hardware on the defenceless Uighurs , like drones, etc, totally destroy their infrastructure, blockade any and all goods from coming in, and they would come kinda close to our good friends those free-speech-crazy democracy-loving Israelis

They deserve it. That's what you get for bending over for the censors. Whatever you give them, they always want more.

The people of Hong Kong need protection. We all saw this coming for them eventually. But having an opinion is different than action.

Chinese money was never theirs to begin with. Turn your back on them there is enough decent people that will support the NBA without Chinese influence and many more that would if you took a stand for the people not a government.
