Speaking at a news conference after a long weekend of violent protests, Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said her administration had no plans to use emergency powers for the introduction of other laws and that the Chinese territory was equipped to handle the current situation on its own as the city braced for further demonstrations through the week.
I can't help but notice that she limits it to just her administration...
You can't trust authoritarians. Democracy or Revolution. Human Rights for All, period.
Just another lie after too many, HK people are fed up with her and the government's bs, hence the resorting to violent protests. You can't reason with a totalitarian regime, they just do their own thing anyway.
These powers she will not use again for any other purposes; these aren't like her other powers that can be used in the interests of Xi Jinping over her own people. She is disgustingly corrupt and her betrayal of the people's trust is a frightening portent of what can happen to us or anyone else when we do not protect our constitution.
Of course her administration has no plans, they just do what Beijing tells them to do.
