Apparently he thought he had the same rights as law enforcement to defend himself. It's not like he walked into the guy's apartment and shot him dead while eating ice cream...

I've studied this case, it was indeed a "bad" shoot. He talked words out of his stupid face with no lawyer present. His story conflicted with the security footage. Dude was backing away at the moment he fired. He told investigators he wasn't fearful of being killed or maimed when he fired. Do you want hard time? 'Cause that's how you get hard time.

if you watch the video the guy pushed him onto the ground before he opened fire. I'm not saying it's right but why escalate to physical violence?

20 years is bullshit.

20 years for murder is too light a sentence. He WAS assaulted, but it was not a deadly threat, so the CCW was not appropriate to use. He could have laid on the ground, waited for an ambulance and sued the guy for any injuries. Filed assault charges and let the system deal with the assault. I'm thinking this guy will be standing next to the serving line in the kitchen making sure nobody gets too much meat loaf for the next 20 years.

Didn't the black guy threaten him and he came os3 and the reason why he opened fire because he warned him if he got close he was carrying??? I mean.. That's like opening the door in an airplane and it says don't open door

Bullshit the guy pushed him down and then the old man shot him one time... dude was twice his size and much younger and he was mad because the old man told his wife that parking in a handicap spot without the placard is Illegal...but this is what happens when the media spends half it's news cycle playing identity politics they refuse to just report the fucking facts it's always got to be some under handed attempt to push some divide and conquer bullshit about race or religion.

I dare the media to write the similar stories for the unarmed white men shot by blacks. Either it’s all news or none of it is (none of it is other than as an aggregate—there used to be a police blotter section of the paper where crime would go).

1. I am an ardent supporter of our natural, Constitutionally-recognized, civil rights; specifically those enshrined in the Bill of Rights. 2. I've watched this video multiple times. The actions of Michael Drejka are certainly not protected by SYG or self defense. 3. The conclusion of this trial demonstrates that SYG laws are not blanket defenses for murderers, or misguided vigilantes, as many anti-2A critics have characterized it in the past - specifically in relation to the lawful defensive use of force by George Zimmerman.

Good. Walking around with a gun on your hip looking for fights does not make you an arbiter of justice. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Have fun rotting in prison, Mr. Second Amendment.

worst ruling I have seen so far this year. if you assult someone you forfeit your life thinking you can just attack someone because they are old is disgusting and this jury should be ashamed of themselves and I hope this keeps them up at night for the rest of their lives

Irony: A photo that says "Being black is not a crime"... With a photo of a guy who committed multiple felonies and ended up dead for resisting arrest in a dark yard at 2am when the cops told him to lie down and instead he approached then with a phone in his hand. Light reflected off the phone and the cops thought it was a fun. He dead.

Look you want my view this idea of guns as an equalizer is dangerous. The physically weak should seek self protection though exercise and martial arts. So should the strong. A weapon of any kind should be a last resort and something that only a well disciplined well trained person should have. Race aside class aside neither man is in the right here a person worthy of carrying a gun should not have been petty enough to start that conflict. But no one has the right to attack a weaker older man from behind.
