I am in favor of getting out of the middle east and ending the ceaseless wars. The US cannot be the world police, nor can we impose a democratic republic onto those nations.

Way to go Trump. You disloyal moron.
Ryszmarine 5 days
What? Isn't it a good thing that he involves the US in the Middle East less?
Sean Donahue 5 days
Not when he abandons our allies in the process.

The Kurds were solicited by the US to act as their agent in the war on ISIS. They were promised continuing aid and military training in exchange for them fighting ISIS> The US also promised to keep Turkey's genocidal war on them at bay. In one telephone call with yet another despotic Muslim dictator, unpresident Trump has sold an ally down the river. Great diplomacy. Even his rabidly loyal and characteristically mute Senate has voiced concern and approbation over this insanity.

Anti-war miles who wants the US to be get out of the middle east inexplicably takes issue when it happens. It's almost like his hatred for Trump trumps (no pun intended) all his principles...

I support the president on everything. this is not cool. its already being reported that isreal is concerned about how we treat our allies.....and if we will do the same again....we really only had 1000 troops and could of kept air power in the region to keep turkey from doing this...it will be on trump when these people are slaughtered and this will affect the chances of a reelection. If this continues I dont want to have to choose putting my independent vote behind a socialist or the libertarian that is almost akin to not voting at all

I fail to see how this is a problem. Could someone enlighten me on why we should be responsible for the detainment of these terrorists?

and everytime the US does take action (like their response to alleged chemical weapons attack) they get called out as being war mongering asshats.. so why should they stay..

To be fair, we are warmongers. We have been engaged in military actions consistently since the end of WW2, so I can see why other nations think us warmongers. Doesn't mean we can't change, this is a good start.

the kurds are US allies and did the majority of ground work against ISIS

Just leave Syria already, there's enough actors on that theater already. The Kurds will never have their country and no amount of nation building, military intervention and lives spent will change that. Enough proxy wars, enough world police, America first!

One begins to wonder why a "foreigner"cares so much about American politics.
Watheverable GRAMPS 5 days
@LockHimUp I had no idea Syria was in the US! Jokes aside, if you can't see the major impact the US has worldwide you must be blind.

This is wrong............. wtf Turkey...

Trump makes political tweets = incompetent monster. Canadian foreign minister makes political tweets = totally respectable. This lady has caused enough trouble tweeting about Saudi Arabia.

Agree. We can apply diplomatic pressure on Turkey and ask the UN to take action, but we should withdraw all troops from current occupied territories.

Christopher Stone 6 days
Let the Turks have the whole bloody country if they want it and can take it. Put their feet up on Syria like it's some kind of upholstered footstool...I think there is a word for such a piece of furniture...otto something...

whoa, Trump was finally right about something

I love the notion of the US being the worlds police... if the cop is corrupt, gives weapons to the worst of the worst, goes into good neighbourhoods and takes all their shit, assassinates any “good cops” on the block, then yeah the description fits.... Most other citizens from most other countries see the US- and correctly-this way, They would love the US to BE the cop— it’s just despite what the US msm has said , the US is the worlds leading terrorist

Now we get to see if the Turkish military lives up to its reputation. For those who do not know, Turkey's military is ranked 9th in the world (GlobalFirepower.com) which also makes it theoretically the strongest military power in the Middle East. It should be able to accomplish its primary operational objectives against the Kurds (creating a safe zone on the Turkish-Syrian border) within a month or two months tops.

Reading the reactions and as usual Europe is clueless. What happened to you countries of Europe? You used to be cool. I think the answer rhymes with pee-yew.
