Mark Zuckerberg defends Facebook’s approach to free speech

Mark Zuckerberg said the social network doesn’t fact-check political advertisements because it’s not the place of technology companies to become arbiters of truth. Facebook has been under fire in recent years for its lax approach to fake news reports, state-backed disinformation campaigns and violent content spread on its services, prompting calls for new regulations around the world.

This banning of political ads is a serious problem. Tim Pool's video from today talks about it a bit.

"adds" is not the abbreviation for advertisement. "ad(s)" is the correct word.

The problem with Facebook is not it's ads anyway even the fake news propagation tool that it is is not the worst problem. The biggest problem is that the algorithms are connecting together people with crazy views allowing them to reenforce their beliefs and tying those beliefs to their social life making the cost of changing their minds unbearable. An easy example are people who believe the earth is flat. Because of social media algorithm they made communities around it and for many it's now impossible to face the truth. This mechanism works for all extremist views such as ISIS's, far right, far left, activists of all sorts etc... It's why people are getting crazier and crazier about politics. Solution? For starters, Facebook should never suggest people to add as friends. An exception for people you likely already know irl (friend of friend, present in same picture..) might be ok though.

SalesForce CEO should be careful with what he says as he has been very proactive in the Leftist movements as well. Personally, I have no problem with the size of Facebook; the issue is their censorship. Stop the bad behavior and I don't care about them anymore.

I will take this view point any day, over “we must keep hate speech off our platform” which we know is code for censorship if u go against religion of woke. Now if Facebook can actually execute on this promise.
