Venezuela elected to United Nations Human Rights Council

Venezuela received 105 votes and a round of applause as it was voted into the United Nations Human Rights Council. The country fended off heavy pressure from the United States against its entry into the UNHRC, and also managed to beat competition from Costa Rica, who made a late entry into the competition.

Definitely an embarrassment. The UN has long ago lost all relevance.

Yet another example to show just idiotic the UN really is. The truth is that this is a socialist/communist organization helping out a partner socialist country. Defund the UN. Time to declare the UN guilty of human rights violations and prosecute.

@Matt H. The UN is not a democracy. It's a bureaucracy. Their votes have nothing at all in common with Brexit or Hong Kong.

Venezuela on the council that mandates independent inquiries into human rights violations is kind of like having Joe Biden have a say on investigations into the corrupt company that his son works for.

“The competition” there lies the problem. Getting on a human rights board is a competition?

Most people on here probably don't like this, but can't be mad about this. "Democracy this" for Brexit, and "Democracy that" for Hong Kong. They put it to a vote and let them in, thats democracy people.
