Qantas completes longest non-stop New York-Sydney flight

Australia’s Qantas completed on Sunday a nonstop test flight from New York to Sydney. The flight was undertaken to research how the world’s longest potential commercial airplane journey of nearly 20 hours would impact pilots, crew and passengers. The goal was to gather data including lighting, activity, sleep and consumption patterns of passengers, and crew melatonin levels.

19 hours breathing in other people's farts. Joyous.

Can you imagine what that plane smelled like when the doors were opened at the end?

I've done 14+ hour flights in coach and they are miserable. A 20 hour flight would be suicidal.

The plane pretty much does all the flying. This is just a matter of everyone staying awake/alert.

Planes today are no faster than in the 1950s. That's very unfortunate. Welcome to the 21st century...
