Chile army declares curfew, president reverses fare hikes

The Chilean military declared a night-time curfew in the capital on Saturday while President Sebastian Pinera announced he would reverse an unpopular public transport policy. This comes as fires continued to burn and looters were seen in flashpoints around the capital city where earlier police and military clashed with protesters.

Rate hikes up by ~4% but students damage power and other infrastructure which is going to result in significantly higher expenses now. Not the proper way to protest the rate hike.

And of course the Right gets blamed for charging the actual market cost of a service. This is why subsidies are counterproductive: people start rioting when they actually start seeing the bill for all their "free" stuff.
