Hong Kong frees murder suspect whose case led to months of protests

Chan Tong-kai, who was accused of murdering his girlfriend in Taiwan last year was released from a Hong Kong prison on Wednesday, after serving a sentence for money laundering. The case was used as justification for an extradition bill that ignited protests five months ago in Hong Kong which have now evolved into a pro-democracy movement.

Good that the guy did this, after nearly a year of protests and violence to prevent *his* extradition to China... but it's probably self-serving, as it will be harder for China to get him from Taiwan.
