House Democrats pass bill to prevent foreign interference in elections

House Democrats on Wednesday night approved a sweeping election security bill, known as the SHIELD Act, in an effort to combat foreign influence in American elections. The Stopping Harmful Interference in Elections for a Lasting Democracy, or SHIELD Act, would require that candidates and political committees notify the FBI and other authorities if a foreign power offers campaign help.

Let me guess, it won't include voter ID because that's racist even though that's been debunked.

Hey, this should mean that the Dems cant hire Fusion GPS to hire a former British intelligence agent to make up nonsense and put it in a dossier and then use information laundering to get an investigation spanning years opened into a Presidential candidate. Wont prevent Glenn Simpson from making contributions to said dossier and helping with the info laundering though, I suppose.

The south will rise again my ass. I mean I’m down for the “Heritage not Hate” debate if my fellow southerners want to turn it into heritage thing and give it a new meaning. I just don’t fly the flag cause I don’t fancy it and has too much of a bad reputation, for very obvious reasons.

"Warner added that if a foreign government offers to interfere to help a campaign 'the appropriate response is not to say thank you. The appropriate response is to call the FBI.'" Well that sounds reasonable. As far as I know, offers to bribe politicians are also supposed to be reported. Is anyone arguing that that's an attack on free speech?
