PM Boris Johnson to seek elections on Dec. 12 after Brexit deadlock

Boris Johnson said on Thursday that he was asking parliament to approve a national election to take place on Dec. 12 as part of his efforts to ensure Britain leaves the EU. Johnson’s move comes after his Brexit bill was passed earlier this week, but lawmakers defeated his request to push through the legislation in a three-day timetable, saying it didn’t provide enough time for scrutiny.
