Short sellers lose $1.5 billion as Tesla shares surge the most in 6 years

Tesla Inc. shares soared 17% on Thursday giving the company’s shares their biggest boost in six years. Wall Street investors betting against Tesla’s stock got clobbered to the tune of nearly $1.5 billion after Elon Musk’s electric-car maker reported a surprise profit. Telsa’s stock price jumped about $45 to nearly $300 after the company reported a profit of $342 million in the third quarter.
