Wildlife group’s budget blown by texting eagles

A Russian wildlife group is seeking donations after eagles they were tracking racked up cellphone bills abroad. The group said it had fitted young steppe eagles with transmitters that sent text messages back to the researchers, allowing them to determine the birds’ locations. However, some eagles flew out of range of cell service and then to Iran, resulting in tons of expensive text messages.
