Russia says U.S. presence in Syria illegal

Russia’s defense ministry on Saturday called US plans to maintain and boost military presence in eastern Syria as ’international state banditry’ motivated by a desire to protect oil smugglers. This came after U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Friday Washington would send armored vehicles and troops to the Syrian oil fields.

So what was the annexation of a chunk of a foreign country then, Mr. Konashenkov? No country is coming out of Syria smelling like roses, but the world hasn't forgotten what Russia did and is still doing in the Ukraine and other former Soviet satellite states. They could do with choosing their words more carefully.

I'm shocked that the Russian minister didn't burst into flames when he said that the US didn't have a mandate under international law.

Sounds like a vested interest to me. If it's good for the U.S. and bad for Russia who cares what they think. As long as things remain peaceful... Still dont like being involved in any ME country.
