Virgin Galactic begins trading on NYSE

A 7.7% jump was observed in the shares of Richard Branson backed Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc, as the company underscored investor interest and hit public markets. The company, which has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange, was created after a merger between Branson’s Virgin Galactic and former executive chairman of Facebook Chamath Palihapitiya’s publicly traded shell company took place.

The crazy part is that shell company, Social Capital Hedosophia, raised $600,000,000 million with no assets , no investments, nothing, and held it for two years. Palihapitiya basically open a checking account and everyone threw money into it with no started goals or expectation of returns.

This will be very interesting to watch the progress of over the next couple of years.

Would love to see Blue Origin and SpaceX on there someday. SpaceX isn't likely to show up on the stock market anytime soon because Elon Musk doesn't want stockholders getting in the way of his plans to build a city on Mars...which is a fair point.
