China’s factory activity falls amid weak demand, trade war

Chinese manufacturing activity fell to an eight-month low in October dropping to 49.3 in October from 49.8 in September, the National Bureau of Statistics said Thursday. Chinese growth has been hurt by weakening consumer demand as shoppers, jittery over the trade war with the US and possible job losses, put off purchases of cars and other big-ticket goods.
