$44.6 billion merger between Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler signed

A $44.6 billion merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA, who own Peugeot, was signed on Thursday. This would make the two groups the fourth biggest car maker of the world. The proposed 50-50 tie up between the Italian and French companies would create a company producing 8.7 million cars annually.

Am I the only one unnerved by all the automotive industry consolidation and amalgamation that has been going on the past couple of decades? This amount of control doesn't seem like a good idea.
