Woman missing since 2020 found living in tent in Utah canyon

A woman from Utah who went missing near a trailhead in November has been found alive in a tent more than five months after she disappeared. The 47-year-old woman was first reported missing on Nov. 25, 2020. While she had a small amount of food with her, the woman said she survived off grass and moss and used the nearby river as a water supply.

Not an easy feat in the least, especially considering she was there for the winter. I’d love to hear more about this. Wether it’s a short day hike or an overnight trip be sure to pack supplies “just in case”.

And we now believe she knowingly chose to remain in the area over the months since November 2020," the release said. Officials said the woman was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation and resources were made available to her should she choose to use them. "But we want to be clear that while many people might choose to not live in the circumstances and conditions this woman did, she did nothing against the law," the sheriff’s office said. "And in the future she might choose to return to the same area.

I mean we've all had that dream of just marching off into the wilderness to get awayfrom people and their nonsensefor a while. Good for her for surviving, that is not an easy feat to accomplish.

Eh, x to doubt on this. Vegetation isn't gonna provide alot of calories for survival, let alone fats, proteins, etc. Unless she was in severe need of Jenny Craig when she went camping, somebody was either being left supplies or stealing food. Edit: also river water is only a backup option even when boiled. Barring a proper purifier i don't see that having worked for 5 months.

Now that’s what I call going off the grid. Respect.

My only real criticism is this. I don't know if she has any friends or family. But if she does I feel badly for them that she didn't bother to inform rhem that she was alive and well and just going off by herself for a while.

She survived off moss and grass is the oldest survival myth. Grass and moss have no nutrients that can sustain human life. I would have believed her if she said insects and plant life. This was staged and is the worst possible lie. The human body can live for 2 weeks with just water. Food depends on your fat storage. But withour protiens your dead. Ask anyone with even minor survival training this is a hoax!
