US government opens national security review of TikTok

The U.S. government has opened a national security review into the video-based app TikTok over Chinese data collection concerns. ’With over 110 million downloads in the U.S. alone, TikTok is a potential counterintelligence threat we cannot ignore’, Sens. Charles Schumer and Tom Cotton wrote in a letter to the national intelligence. TikTok is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance.
