Pete Buttigieg touts rising organizing power in Iowa speech

Pete Buttigieg touted himself as the most electable Democrat in the 2020 presidential field on Friday. Speaking at the Iowa Democratic Party’s fall dinner, Buttigieg delivered an optimistic speech that cast himself as the person who can best unify the country after President Trump leaves office.

Democrats continue to assume they can play by the old rules in the Trump era.

Shouldn't he be more concerned with his carbon footprint than having an Obama moment?

Do we really want to vote for a guy whose name keeps autocorrecting to "Butt plug" every time I try to type it?

“I’m committed to working alongside the disability community as President to systematically dismantle discrimination against people with disabilities, and ensure our government works for them.” Yo Pete I consider myself a Citizen not a member of your disability community. Just because I function differently than other Citizens makes no difference!! I want my government to work equally for ALL Citizens not single out and divide me into communities based on physical characteristics you liberal bigot tyrant!!!!

I don't like him. I'd rather vote for Biden than this millennial centrist rat.

No way Pete defeats Trump. Nominate Bernie Sanders and he will win in a landslide.

He's still in the race for the nomination?? I had no idea. The only halfway decent candidate they have is Tulsi Gabbard and they are determined that she's not going to be the nomination so it's Bernie v Biden v Clinton (you know she will her ego won't let her not run) and then they will lose again. The Democratic Party needs to stop pandering to minorities and talk to the nation as a whole. The need to deliver a vision of the country that is positive and has a place for the majority people in it. Until that happens they'll remain unelectable. Threatening to ban guns, bring in universal healthcare and having open borders are not vote winning policies.

Bernie Sanders is the only candidate I trust to beat Trump, but to also actually fight for the things he has stood for his entire life. Bernie hasn't hopped on a bandwagon for political expediency, he's been consistent for 50 years. The core of Bernie's message is that we need to take to streets to fight for what we deserve. Just like the labour movement, the civil rights movement. In Bernie's words, "I will be your organizer in Chief." That is exactly what we need. First, though, we need the House, Senate and Presidency. We do this by winning over non-voters and independents. Do you see Pete, Biden or Warren inspiring people who don't care about politics to get involved? Do you see Independents or Republicans voting for any of them? Hell. No. Bernie is the only candidate Trump supporters say they would flip for. Bernie is the ticket out of Trump, and the only ticket that won't send us back to the conditions that resulted in America feeling like Trump is their only choice. Besides. Is Healthcare for all, really that radical? Is considering eye-care, hearing aides, and dental, a part of health care, radical? Is ending handouts to massively wealthy fossil fuel industries, who don't need the subsidies to profit, radical? Bernie is a moderate in many countries. Yet, most countries are miles ahead of the US in many metrics. Bernie 2020 for the primary. But any dem 2020 for the General. (Just hope it's Bernie.)
