New Delhi declares public emergency as pollution at year’s worst

Authorities in New Delhi, India, have declared a public health emergency on Friday as air pollution in the city hit its worst level this year. An index measuring the level of a deadly air pollutant hit 484 on a scale of 500 - anything above 400 poses a risk. Five million masks are being distributed at schools as thick white smog blanketed the city.

I place the blame squarely on the United Nations and their Paris Accord that gave India the GREEN light to pollute at will with zero consequence. Save the planet; shutdown the UN.

I thought New Delhi was hazy (smelled strongly of diesel fumes) but that was it. China's air is so bad that on some days you can't see your hand in front of your face, let alone the traffic signals. New Delhi had a LOT of trash piled around the city. Serious trash problem there.

Still nowhere close to China's level in winter - the measurement devices do not go high enough.
