Amazon land defender shot dead by illegal loggers

Illegal loggers in the Amazon ambushed an indigenous group formed to protect the forest, killing a young warrior and wounding another. Leaders of the Guajajara tribe in northern Brazil said on Saturday that Paulo Paulino Guajajara was hunting inside the Arariboia reservation in Maranhao state when he was attacked and shot in the head. The Guajajaras are one of Brazil’s largest indigenous groups.

Seems like the indigenous people have not modernized after meeting people with better technology, and have decided to put their trust into the Brazilian government. Maybe they should have read up on some of the histories of other indigenous people in similar situations and their outcomes...

Most of these comments arent even about the guy who got shot, they're either complaining about the left or how they deserved it due to how primitive they are

Environmentalists and activists make a whole lot of noise, but in the end they aren't the ones actually doing something to protect the Amazon. the natives are the only ones willing to put their lives on the line to protect the Amazon, because it's their home. It's easy to say you care and then do nothing of substance when you have nothing to lose.
