Mitch McConnell says Senate would acquit Trump if trial held today

US Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday that the Senate would acquit Trump if an impeachment trial were held today. He also said that the impeachment trial would depend on how long senators want to take. It takes two-thirds of the Senate to convict a president and remove him from office. That means at least 20 Republicans would have to vote to convict Trump if he is impeached.

Two entirely different set of articles linked - one set about the obvious lack of convincing information in the sham impeachment, the other about the Senate confirming a record number of judicial nominees from Trump. Regarding the latter, I wonder why it's taken the Senate Republicans this long to confirm the nominees. The former is obviously a sham impeachment without merit and just the final attempt by the Democrats to overturn the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Its not being held today because all the evidence has not yet been presented, and all the testimony has not been taken. If the current daily drip after drip of damming testimony and evidence continues as it has been the voters will demand that he be removed. The longer Senate republicans stand with Trump the better the chances are the Senate turns blue in 2020.
