A pristine Apollo moon rock sample cracked open by NASA

Rock and soil samples were gathered by NASA Astronauts Gene Cernan and Harrison Jack Schmitt and brought back to Earth during the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The samples were stored away for testing in the future after advancements in technology were made and sample 73002 was opened as part of Apollo Next-Generation Sample Analysis (ANGSA) initiative.
